Thinking About Exhibiting With ArtattheHouse?

Typical outdoor area stall ArtattheHouse

The venue offers a number of slightly different pitches, as described below. Please refer to map for locations.

In Zone A outside there is a mixture of level firm and hard ground for tents, again averaging 3 x 3m plots. In the lodge (No 7 on the map) there are covered and enclosed pitches for 2-3 exhibitors. Again, some tents and tables can be supplied but artists are also encouraged to bring their own where possible including their own seating arrangements.

In Zone B Outside there are a number of flat areas for tents in the woods. These are located in small groups so that artists can provide support for each other over the weekend. Each plot, with one or two exceptions, generally takes a 3 x 3m tent. We can provide some tents and tables but also encourage artists to bring their own, including their own seating arrangements. Please beware, that the ground is undulated and you will have to carry/trolly tour work into the woods from your car. Wheelbarrows and 1 trolly are available, but limited access, given the number of artists.

This year we plan to focus on attracting even more artists and exhibitors so that we can maximise our use of the wonderful wooded areas that surround Cliffe House.

In the coach house downstairs, there are approx. 16 pitches each approx. 2.5 x 2m. Tables are often provided for these areas; however not all tables will be a standard size therefore please bring extra clothes just in case, plus a stool for the exhibitor. It should be also noted that not all stall locations allow for you to stand behind, in these cases you will be sitting to one side. There are some areas where products such as paintings can be propped up, where you may also wish to bring extra clothes to cover existing wall displays or equipment behind but, on the whole, there is no wall hanging space.

Exhibitors will need to provide their own display for a table top and all table coverings need to reach the floor to hide anything stored under your table, as well as be tied at corners to prevent trip hazards. There might be a small amount of floor space in front of your table or to the side but artists are discouraged from exceeding their pitch space, please let us know if you wish to have a browser or extra space and we will try to accommodate you. Please be aware that the floor consists of old paving stones so may be a bit uneven in areas. Also, part of the space has historical slight sloping aspects for drainage when it was used as a coach house. Small wood wedges might be provided in some cases but artists should also bring either small pieces of card or thin wood slats to level up their table or display.

Finally, it is the committee’s final decision on your allocation within the coach house and it is unlikely to be changed during the weekend.

Workshops In previous years those having a workshop have been allocated a larger tent to accommodate both your stall and workshop, however if this year is oversubscribed, your area may be reduced to half a 3m x 4m for your stall and workshop, though if you provide your own gazebo, you can have as much space as you need.

This year we are also offering the upstairs room above the coach house for additional workshop space. Please be aware access is via an external fire escape.

General info There will be overnight security for Saturday night only from 7o’clock. Any equipment left overnight on Friday is at your own risk, albeit there are no public footpaths through the grounds at Cliffe House, the grounds can be accessed by locals. (albeit in 7 years we have had no issue with damage). Those allocated in zone A can leave their work either inside the coach house or lodge overnight. Those in the wood can use the archery which is covered and lockable or inside your own tent.

Parking is off site for all artists on both days with a shuttle bus service provided to the cricket club.(map provided)

Applications for this year’s ArtattheHouse are now closed. If you would like to apply to exhibit at ArtattheHouse next year, please complete the application form when applications open.

We will contact you in due course if we require further information about your work or to let you know if you have a space allocated.  There are a limited number of spaces over the venue, which are allocated on a first come, first served basis but we also aim to have a wide spectrum of different expressions of art for the event.
