Valley Beats Samba Band, directed by Community Percussionist Katie Mallard, is a vibrant community percussion group delivering an unforgettable explosion of powerful rhythms, infectious energy and feel-good carnival spirit. Made up of people from all parts of the community, the band proves that great music is for everyone.
Performing original music created collaboratively by the band, alongside rhythms inspired by Brazil and musical traditions from around the world, every performance is packed with excitement and carnival appeal.
They love audience participation and are bringing instruments for you to join in so you can become part of the action.
Valley Beats Samba Band is an open-access community group that rehearses on Wednesday mornings in Holmfirth and Thursday mornings in Denby Dale. New members are warmly welcomed throughout the year, and no previous musical experience is needed – just enthusiasm, a sense of fun and a willingness to make some noise!.
